Article Rebuttal: Minimum Wage Over the years there has been much debate about raising the federal minimum wage. Some states have taken it upon themselves to set higher minimum wages than the federal minimum wage, because of the lack of action by congress. The supporters of the raising of the federal minimum wage have been more vocal lately. This is especially true since studies have shown, that the gap has grown between the wealthier population, and the middle class. Recently President Obama, because of the lack of effort and action by congress, has used executive action to implement the raising of the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour for new federal contracts, effective 2015. This, naturally, has brought out commentary, studies†¦show more content†¦The Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) said, â€Å"Zero is a perfectly reasonable estimate of the impact of the minimum wage on employment†. They further argued, that consideration was taken that rising wages boost productivity and reduce employee migration. It is important to note that the CEA members are appointed by the President, to advise him. Also, worth noting, the Democrats are making the minimum wage an issue they are highlighting in the 2014 elections. Public support for this initiative receives support across all facets of society through various polls, but Republicans oppose raising the minimum wage almost unanimously. (Davis, S.) The findings in the CBO report have parts highlighted by both sides of the argument, where the data is skewed, or parts are overlooked to provide support of each view. There are two sides to this issue. On the surface things appear simple and the question is how does it affect each of us as individuals? Arguments could be made, and most likely will be made, that branch out and take the focus off of the true issues. I can see arguments for not raising the wage turn into this seen as an attack on Americans freedom, too much government control, this will impede innovation, make the U.S. less competitive and even this being seen as an attack on capitalism. My grandmother on my mothers side, whom is now living with us, struggles with hypertension on a daily basis. Hypertension is a another way of saying High Blood Pressure (HBP). Any form of discrimination can have devastating, long term effects whether it is a child or adult, or even a business/place of work. As I have mentioned previously in my work, I think it is so important to teach children from a young age, the meaning of equality, diversity and inclusion. Giving the children and young people in our settings, the support and education needed should help them develop and understand that we are all different in some way. Inclusive practice just ensures equality for all the children and young people in our settings, making sure no one is singled out or left behind in terms of progressing or educational needs. If you are in a setting with such a diverse group of children, then encourage them to be curious and ask questions about their peers. Work together to create activities involving different cultures or abilities, that way, everyone will learn and reach a better understanding of everyone’s needs and backgrounds. They will learn to relate to one another and achieve a more positive attitude towards each other. As a practitioner, it is also important to know as much as possible about the different backgrounds so talk to the parents and your colleagues so you can support the children more in their individual needs. If I look back at when I was at school, you realise how things have progressed. I can say that I was in a school where it was 100% white British students. My son starts school next year and I know he will be in a class of students from so many different backgrounds, so it is so important he learn and understand the different races, cultures, religions, abilities and realise we are not all the same, but unique. I just think that inclusive practice plays such a vital role in a child’s life and development, what they learn and understand now, as a child, will help so much in their adulthood. The opening of the park impacted the world because it showed the world a different perspective because the kids weren’t the only ones who could ride on attractions. The parents were able to ride as well because Mr. Disney dreamed of a place where families could have fun and make memories. Furthermore, the opening of the park was kind of a letdown, but Walt Disney didn’t let that stop him from improving the park. He once stated, â€Å"Disneyland will never be completed. † To this day Disneyland is getting bigger and opening new attractions. Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World are a big vacation destination to people around the world.And also, throughout his lifetime and after his death Walt Disney has received many different awards, nominations, and etc. The awards he receives vary from his films to the creation of Disneyland. Disney also holds the records for most Oscars won; he has been awarded 22 Oscars. Those are a lot of award s that he won!
